Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Verify that the Rear Window Defogger (EBL) mode switch is off (EBL status indicator not illuminated).
    3. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
    5. Press the Rear Window Defogger (EBL) mode switch on.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display: B1D39-PASSENGER MIRROR HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. TEST FOR AN OPEN OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR

    1. Press the Rear Window Defogger (EBL) mode switch off.
    2. Turn the ignition off.
    3. Disconnect the Passenger Outside Rearview Mirror connector.
    4. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (C16) Passenger Mirror Heater Driver circuit and the (C917) Passenger Mirror Heater Return circuit.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Press the Rear Window Defogger (EBL) mode switch on.

      Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  3
  3. CHECK THE (C16) PASSENGER MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Passenger Door Module C1 connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the (C16) Passenger Mirror Heater Driver circuit between the Passenger Outside Rearview Mirror connector and the Passenger Door Module C1 connector.

      Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  4

      No 

  4. CHECK THE (C917) PASSENGER MIRROR HEATER RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    1. Measure the resistance of the (C917) Passenger Mirror Heater Return circuit between the Passenger Outside Rearview Mirror connector and the Passenger Door Module C1 connector.

      Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
