Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC PRESENT 
    1. With the scan tool, record DTCs.
    2. Erase DTCs
    3. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
    4. Operate the liftgate several times.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display B18DE-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT LOW

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SHORTED

    1. Disconnect the Power Liftgate Latch harness connector.
    2. Erase DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display B18DE-POWER LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT LOW?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3

      No 

  3. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit.

      Is the resistance below 1, 000 ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  4
  4. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO (Q901) LOGIC GROUND

    1. Measure the resistance between the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit.

      Is the resistance below 1, 000 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
