Diagnostic Test
- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, clear all DTC's.
- Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display active: B117E-REAR LEFT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
- (P177) REAR LEFT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect the 2nd Row Seat inline harness connector.
- Disconnect the Heated Seat Module harness connector.NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (P177) Rear Left Seat Heater Control circuit.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (P177) Rear Left Seat Heater Control circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 3
- (P177) REAR LEFT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (P177) Rear Left Seat Heater Control circuit between the Heated Seat Module harness connector and the 2nd Row Seat inline harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k ohms?
Yes
- Go to step 4
No
- Repair the (P177) Rear Left Seat Heater Control circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
- (Z909) SEAT HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z909) Seat Heater Ground circuit at the 2nd Row Seat inline harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go to step 5
No
- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z909) Seat Heater ground circuit.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
- HEATED SEAT MODULE
- Reconnect the HSM harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Connect a test light between the (Z909) Seat Heater ground circuit and the (P177) Rear Left Seat Heater Control circuit at the 2nd Row Seat inline harness connector.
- Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is on?
Yes
- Replace the heater element in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Replace the Heated Seat Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure
