Diagnostic Test
- DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) PRESENT
- Using the scan tool, record DTCs.
- Erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
- Operate the liftgate several times from the overhead switch.
- Using the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B18E4-POWER LIFTGATE FRONT ZONE SWITCH CIRCUIT HIGH?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- Using the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure .
- LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH SHORTED
NOTE: Vehicles equipped with a sunroof have the Power Liftgate Switch integrated into the Sunroof Switch Assembly. The graphic shows switch connectors for vehicles with and without a sunroof.
- Disconnect the Overhead Liftgate Release Switch harness connector.
- Erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B18E4-POWER LIFTGATE FRONT ZONE SWITCH CIRCUIT HIGH?
Yes
- Go to step 3
No
- Replace the Overhead Liftgate Switch, or for vehicles with a sunroof, replace the Sunroof/Liftgate overhead switch assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure .
- (G25) LIFTGATE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 harness connector.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (G25) Liftgate Switch Sense circuit.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (G25) Liftgate Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Go to step 4
- (G25) LIFTGATE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (G25) Liftgate Switch Sense circuit between the Switch connector and the Power Liftgate C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Power Liftgate Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Repair the (G25) Liftgate Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Front Control (FCM) - Standard Procedure .
