Section 29 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Installation: Installation

  1. Move A/C compressor to the side to install generator.

  2. Rotate generator and set in place.

  3. Make sure battery terminal (1) is in front of A/C line (2).

  4. Install lower mounting bolt do not tighten fully at this time.

  5. Loose install upper mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten lower and upper mounting bolts to GAS 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.) DIESEL 26 N.m (19 ft. lbs.).

  7. Install the B+ terminal nut and wire and tighten to GAS AND DIESEL 10 N.m (88.5 in. lbs.).

  8. Plug in the field circuit to the generator.

  9. Install idler pulley and tighten bolt.
  10. Install the accessory drive belt.
  11. Install splash shield.

  12. Install lower air dam.
  13. Lower vehicle.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
