Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) DTC ACTIVE IN TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE 

    This is an informational DTC that indicates that the transmission has been operating in the "Overheat" shift schedule.

    With the scan tool, select View DTCs in the Transmission Control Module.

    Are any DTCs set in the Transmission Control Module? 

    Yes 

    1. Refer to the Service Information for the related diagnostic or repair procedures.
    2. Perform PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Go to  2).
  2. 2) TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING 

    With the scan tool, review the Freeze Frame information to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.

    Attempt to drive the vehicle under the conditions in which the DTC was set.

    Transmission overheating may indicate the need for an additional transmission oil cooler.

    Check the transmission oil cooler flow in accordance with the Service Information.

    Check for any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

    Were any problems found? 

    Yes 

    1. Repair as necessary. If the transmission oil cooler is plugged, repair the cause of the plugged oil cooler
    2. Perform PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Go to  3).
  3. 3) ENGINE OVERHEATING 

    Check the engine cooling system operation in accordance with the Service Information.

    Were any problems found? 

    Yes 

    1. Repair as necessary.
    2. Perform PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Refer to the *CHECKING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION Diagnostic Procedure.
