Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE 

    With the scan tool, read Transmission DTCs.

    Is the status Active for this DTC? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  2).

    No 

    1. Go To  5).
  2. 2) CHECK FOR FCM/TIPM CAN BUS DTCS 

    With the scan tool, read FCM/TIPM DTCs.

    Are there any FCM/TIPM CAN BUS DTCs present? 

    Yes 

    1. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING and perform the appropriate symptom(s).
    2. Perform CVT VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Go To  3).
  3. 3) CHECK IF ENGINE DTCS ARE PRESENT 

    With the scan tool, read engine DTCs.

    Are there any engine DTCs present? 

    Yes 

    1. Refer to appropriate Engine ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS article and perform the appropriate symptom(s).
    2. Perform CVT VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Go To  4).
  4. 4) CHECK THE PCM 

    Replace and program the PCM per the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL .

    Perform CVT VERIFICATION TEST .

    Does the DTC reset? 

    Yes 

    1. Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the TCM per the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Perform CVT VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Test Complete.
  5. 5) INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS 

    The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.

    Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.

    Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.

    Were there any problems found? 

    Yes 

    1. Repair as necessary.
    2. Perform CVT VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Test Complete.
