Engine & Automatic Transmission Cooling System: Engine: Pump-Water: Installation: Installation-3.7L
| 1 - WATER PUMP |
| 2 - TIMING CHAIN COVER |
The water pump on 3.7L engines is bolted directly to the engine timing chain case cover (2).
- Clean gasket mating surfaces.
- Using a new gasket, position water pump (1) and install mounting bolts and stud. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
- Spin water pump to be sure that pump impeller does not rub against timing chain case/cover (2).

- Install accessory drive belt. See INSTALLATION-3.7L/4.7L .CAUTION: When installing the serpentine accessory drive belt, belt must be routed correctly. If not, engine may overheat due to water pump rotating in wrong direction.
- Be sure the upper and lower portions of the fan shroud are firmly connected. All air must flow through the radiator.
- Install two fan shroud-to-radiator screws.
- Install viscous fan (if originally euipped). See INSTALLATION-3.7L/4.7L .
- Be sure of at least 25 mm (1.0 inches) between tips of fan blades and fan shroud.
- Evacuate air and refill cooling system. See STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Check the cooling system for leaks. See LEAK TESTING
