Sensor-Throttle Position: Installation: 3.7L
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The throttle shaft end of throttle body (3) slides into a socket in TPS (4). See Fig 1. The TPS must be installed so that it can be rotated a few degrees. (If sensor will not rotate, install sensor with throttle shaft on other side of socket tangs). The TPS will be under slight tension when rotated.
- Install TPS and retaining screws.
- Tighten screws to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) torque.
- Connect TPS electrical connector to TPS.
- Manually operate throttle (by hand) to check for any TPS binding before starting engine.
- Install air cleaner tube to throttle body.
