Front Control Module: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2002 Dodge Caravan, 2002 Chrysler Voyager, 2002 Chrysler Town & Country, and 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Front Control Module (FCM) is mounted to front of Intelligent Power Module (IPM). See Figure. Remove battery from vehicle. Using a long, flat-blade screwdriver, carefully pry IPM retaining clips to allow IPM to be rotated upward to access FCM.
  2. Remove screws retaining FCM to IPM. Using both hands, pull FCM straight out from IPM connector until FCM is clear of IPM. See Figure. Remove FCM from vehicle.
NOTE: If vehicle is not equipped with name brand speakers (Infinity, etc.) or headlight washers, the DRBIII®, must be used to disable the appropriate relays in the intelligent power module
