Bus System Communication Failure: Testing
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read DTC's. With the DRBIII®, read Freeze Frame information. With the DRBIII®, erase DTC's. Turn the ignition off. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read DTC's. Does the DRBIII® display BUS SYSTEM COMMUNICATION FAILURE? Yes, go to next step. No, go to step 4.
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read EMIC DTC'S. Does the DRBIII® display NO ABS MESSAGES RECEIVED? Yes, see refer to BODY CONTROL MODULES article to diagnose the symptom. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . No, go to next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. Disconnect the CAB harness connector. Measure the resistance of the Bus circuit between the CAB connector and the Data Link Connector (DLC). Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes, replace the Controller Antilock Brake in accordance with the service information. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . No, repair the Bus circuit for an open. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
- Turn the ignition off. Visually inspect the related wiring harness. look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Visually inspect the related wire harness connectors. Look for broken, been, pushed out, or corroded terminals. Were any problems found? Yes, repair as necessary. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . No, test is complete.
NOTE:
Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary.
