Timing Control Systems

Ignition timing is electronically controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Base ignition timing is not adjustable with this system. PCM controlled ignition system consists of Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and ignition coil(s). The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Idle Air Control (IAC) motor and Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor also have an effect on the control of the ignition system.
