The 42RLE transmission family can be identified by visual identification of vehicles equipped with a Solenoid/Pressure Switch Assembly located on the passenger side, and the Transmission Range Sensor, Input Speed Sensor and Output Speed Sensor, which are located on the drivers side of the transmission. The 45RFE/545RFE transmission family can be identified by confirming the presence of a 23-pin electrical connector on the left-hand side of the transmission oriented vertically near the manual lever. Refer to the service information for transmission ID tag descriptions.
