DTC P0460: Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles Or DTC P0461: Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Time: Testing
- Turn the ignition off. Remove the fuel tank. See FUEL TANK under FUEL SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank. Inspect inside of the fuel tank for any obstructions or deformities. Is the fuel tank free from defects? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair or replace the fuel tank as necessary.
- There are no possible causes remaining, replace the fuel level sensor. Replace fuel level sensor. Fuel level sensor is located on fuel pump module and can be replaced separately. See FUEL LEVEL SENSOR under SENSORS & SWITCHES in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - GRAND CHEROKEE article.
WARNING:
The fuel system is under a constant pressure, even with the engine off. Before testing or servicing any fuel system hose, fitting or line, the fuel system pressure must be released. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
