One Gauge Inoperative

NOTE: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will not store any DTCs for oil pressure gauge. If gauge checks okay, check pressure with mechanical gauge.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If no PCM DTCs exist, go to next step. If any PCM DTCs exist, see appropriate test in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - WRANGLER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  2. Turn ignition off. Perform instrument cluster self-diagnostic actuator test. See VACUUM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY SELF-DIAGNOSTIC ACTUATOR TEST under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - WRANGLER article. If suspect gauge does not operate properly, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If suspect gauge operates properly, test is complete.
