Battery IOD Disconnect At BCM

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: Each time the DRBIII(R) request DTCs from the BCM, the BCM checks for battery voltage on the IOD circuit.
  2. Set Condition: The DTC will set if the BCM detects a low or no voltage condition on the IOD circuit.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Connect the DRBIII(R) to the Data Link Connector. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), erase BCM DTC's. Turn the ignition off then turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), read BCM DTC's. Does the DRBIII(R) display: Battery IOD Disconnect at BCM? If yes, go to next step. If no, problem is not present. Use the wiring diagrams to help isolate a possible intermittent wiring problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  2. Inspect fuse No. 34 in the Junction Block. Is the fuse open? If yes, reinstall or replace Junction Block fuse No. 34. Use the wiring diagrams to help isolate a possible intermittent wiring problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, go to next step.
  3. Remove the fuse No. 34 from the Junction Block. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ side of the fuse. Is the test light illuminated? If yes, go to next step. If no, check PDC fuse No. 7 for an open. If OK, repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open between the PDC and the Fuse. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  4. NOTE: Make sure all the Junction Block connectors are connected at this time.
  5. Install Fuse No. 34 in the Junction Block. Remove the BCM from the Junction Block. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ circuit in the Junction Block Body Control Module connector cavity 15. Is the test light illuminated? If yes, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, replace the Junction Block. See JUNCTION BLOCK (LHD)  or JUNCTION BLOCK (RHD)  . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
