Passenger's Window Inoperative From Both Switches

  1. Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES then ACTUATORS. Actuate PASS F WIN UP RLY and then PASS F WIN DN RLY. If passenger's power window does not operate in both directions, go to next step. If passenger's power window operates in both directions, replace Passenger's Door Module (PDM). See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Remove passenger's door trim panel. Disconnect Passenger Door Module (PDM) C1 connector. Connect a jumper wire between PDM C1 connector terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 15 (Violet wire). Connect a second jumper wire to PDM C1 connector terminal No. 13 (Brown wire) and momentarily touch other end of jumper wire to terminal No. 1 (Tan/Black wire). See Figure . Power window motor should operate. Reverse jumper wire ends on terminals No. 13 and 15. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If motor does not operate, go to next step. If motor operates as specified, replace PDM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Remove jumper wire. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PDM C1 connector terminals No. 13 (Brown wire) and No. 15 (Violet wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 15 (Violet wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, go to step  7 . If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, measure voltage between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 15 (Violet wire). If voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, go to step  10 . If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, check for binding window regulator. If regulator is okay, replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Disconnect passenger's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown wire between passenger's power window motor connector terminal No. 1 and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 13. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet wire between passenger's power window motor connector terminal No. 1 and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  7. Disconnect passenger's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 13 (Brown wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  8. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 15 (Violet wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  9. Replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  10. Disconnect passenger's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 13 (Brown wire). If voltage is not indicated, go to next step. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  11. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and PDM C1 connector terminal No. 15 (Violet wire). If voltage is not indicated, test is complete. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Violet wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
