NOTE: Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.
  1. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor LIFTGATE AJAR SW state. Disconnect left liftgate ajar switch connector. See Figure . If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state changes from CLOSED to OPEN when left liftgate ajar switch connector is disconnected, replace left liftgate ajar switch. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state does not change from CLOSED to OPEN when left liftgate ajar switch connector is disconnected, go to next step.
  2. Monitor LIFTGATE AJAR SW state. Disconnect right liftgate ajar switch connector. See Figure . If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state changes from CLOSED to OPEN when right liftgate ajar switch connector is disconnected, replace right liftgate ajar switch. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state does not change from CLOSED to OPEN when right liftgate ajar switch connector is disconnected, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect junction block C1 connector. See Figure . Connect test light between battery positive post and left, then right liftgate ajar switch connector terminals No. 2 (Tan/Black wires). If test light illuminates at left and/or right liftgate ajar switch connector terminal(s), repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire(s) between left and/or right liftgate ajar switch(es) and junction block. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect test light between battery positive post and rear of junction block BCM connector terminal No. 21. See Figure . If test light illuminates, replace junction box. If test light does not illuminate, replace BCM.
