Chime Inoperative With Key In Ignition & Driver's Door Open
NOTE:
Before proceeding with testing procedure, ensure interior and exterior lights turn on and off properly.
- Remove key from ignition switch. Using scan tool, select BODY, INPUT/OUPUT and KEY IN IGN. SW. Insert key in to ignition switch. Monitor KEY-IN-IGNITION status. If KEY-IN-IGNITION status is not CLOSED, go to next step. If KEY-IN-IGNITION status is CLOSED, system is operating properly at this time. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect Black 2-pin ignition switch C2 connector. See Fig 1 . Using DVOM, measure resistance between key-in-ignition switch terminals. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, replace ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and ignition switch C2 connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). See Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between ground and ignition switch C2 connector. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) C1 connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Blue wire between BCM C1 connector terminal No. 6 and ignition switch C2 connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). See Fig 3 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue wire between BCM C1 connector and ignition switch C2 connector. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
