Description & Operation
Power windows are an optional feature. Power window system allows all door windows to be opened or closed by operating a switch on trim panel for each door. Master switch on driver's door trim panel can be operated to open or close any window. A lock-out switch on driver's master witch allows driver to disable all door window switches, except master power window switch.
Front door power window switches are integral to Driver's Door Module (DDM) or Passenger's Door Module (PDM). Rear door power window switches are stand alone units. An automatic resetting circuit breaker, located in junction block, is used to protect power window system circuit. Power window system receives battery current through a fused ignition switch output. System will only operate with ignition switch in ON or ACC positions.
Power window motor is a permanent magnet reversible motor, located in each door. Power window motor is equipped with an integral self-resetting circuit breaker to protect motor from overloads. Power window motor and regulator assembly cannot be repaired. If found faulty or damaged, entire power window regulator assembly must be replaced.
Power window switches are mounted on each door. Each power window switch, except lock-out switch, is illuminated by a Light Emitting Diode (LED) when ignition switch is turned to ON position. When power window lock-out switch is placed in lock position, LEDs for passenger's front and rear doors will not illuminate. Front door power window switches and LEDs cannot be repaired. If faulty or damaged, DDM or PDM must be replaced. Rear power window switches and LEDs cannot be repaired. If faulty or damaged, entire power window switch must be replaced.
