Clutch Pedal Position Switch
WARNING:
Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch connector, located under instrument panel. CPP switch is located on clutch pedal push rod (Cherokee) or in clutch master cylinder (Wrangler). Using DVOM, check for continuity between CPP switch connector (component side) with clutch pedal released. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace faulty CPP switch.
- Depress clutch pedal. Check for continuity between CPP switch connector (component side). If continuity does not exist, replace faulty CPP switch. If continuity exists, CPP switch is okay. Check ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH TEST .
