Clutch Pedal Position Switch

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect clutch pedal position switch connector, located under instrument panel. Switch is located on clutch pedal push rod (Cherokee) or in clutch master cylinder (Wrangler). Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the 2 cavities in switch half of connector with clutch pedal released. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace faulty switch.
  2. Depress clutch pedal. Check for continuity between the 2 cavities in switch half of connector. If continuity does not exist, replace faulty switch. If continuity exists, switch is okay. Check ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH TEST  .
