PRNDL/T-Case Illumination Lights Inoperative

  1. Disconnect PRNDL illumination unit connector located at shifter. Connect test light between PRNDL illumination unit connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 2 (Black wire). Turn on instrument panel lights. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace defective PRNDL illumination unit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PRNDL illumination unit connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange wire between PRNDL illumination unit connector terminal No. 1 and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 9. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
