Wiper Park Failure
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Turn ignition off, then on. Turn wiper switch to each intermittent position, then low and high speed positions. Read BCM DTCs. If scan tool displays WIPER PARK FAILURE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display WIPER PARK FAILURE, test is complete. DTC is not present at this time.
- Remove circuit breaker No. 1 from junction block. See Figure. Install a known-good circuit breaker. Operate wipers. If wipers do not function correctly, go to next step. If wipers function correctly, replace circuit breaker. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block connector C2. See Figure. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance in junction block internal circuit between BCM junction block connector terminal No. 20 and junction block connector C2 terminal No. 33 (junction block side). See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect BCM connector C1. Connect a jumper wire between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 22 (Red/Violet wire). See Figure. Connect test light between ground and junction block connector C2 terminal No. 33 (Tan/Red wire). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Operate wipers on and off and observe test light. If test light does not pulse, go to next step. If test light pulses, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Ensure all components are connected. Using test light, backprobe between ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire). Turn wiper switch to position where wipers are operating correctly. If test light pulses, test is complete. If test light does not pulse, replace wiper motor. See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
