Rear Washer Inoperative
- Remove fuse No. 29 (10-amp) located in junction block. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output terminal on fuse No. 29 socket. If voltage is greater than 6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 6 volts, repair open in ignition switch output circuit to fuse No. 29.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect junction block fuse No. 29. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If is fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and go to step 8.
- Install good fuse. Remove rear liftgate trim panel. Disconnect rear washer motor connector. See Figure. Connect test light between rear washer pump connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Depress rear washer switch. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace rear washer pump. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect right multifunction switch connector. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and rear washer motor connector terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/White wire between right multifunction switch and rear washer motor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect junction block connector C3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and junction block connector C3 terminal No. 43 (Brown/Pink wire). See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Pink wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from rear of junction block. See Figure. Remove cigar lighter relay from junction block. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and fuse No. 29 socket ignition switch output terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace right multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove liftgate trim panel. Disconnect rear washer motor connector. See Figure. Connect test light between rear washer pump connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Depress rear washer switch. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace rear washer pump. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and rear washer pump connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire between washer motor and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black/White wire between rear washer motor pump connector terminal No. 2 and right multifunction switch connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black/White wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect right multifunction switch connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between right multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Pink wire) and ground. If resistance is 10 volts or greater, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Brown/Pink wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace right multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
