- Using DVOM, measure resistance between sunroof switch terminals No. 1 and 3. Press sunroof switch to close position. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace sunroof switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Lower rear of headliner and access sunroof control module. See SUNROOF CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect sunroof control module connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between sunroof control module connector terminal No. 7 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire between sunroof control module and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of White wire between sunroof switch connector terminal No. 5 and sunroof control module connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in White wire between sunroof control module and sunroof switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet wire between sunroof switch connector terminal No. 1 and sunroof control module connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Violet wire between sunroof control module and sunroof switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan wire between sunroof delay relay junction block cavity terminal No. 87 and sunroof control module connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Tan wire between sunroof control module and sunroof delay relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect sunroof motor connector. Connect a jumper between ground and either sunroof motor terminal (motor side). Momentarily connect a fused jumper between battery voltage and opposite terminal of sunroof motor (motor side). Sunroof motor should operate. Reverse jumper wire ends at sunroof motor. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If sunroof moves in both directions, replace sunroof control module. See SUNROOF CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If sunroof does not move in both directions, replace sunroof motor. See appropriate
POWER SUNROOF article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from rear of junction block. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM junction block connector terminal No. 3 and sunroof delay relay cavity terminal No. 86. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 25 (20-amp) located in junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace fuse No. 25. Turn ignition on and operate sunroof to open and closed positions. Turn ignition off and recheck fuse No. 25. If fuse No. 25 is blown, go to next step. If fuse No. 25 is okay, test is complete. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove sunroof delay relay and fuse No. 25 from junction block. Using DVOM, measure resistance between sunroof delay relay cavity terminal No. 30 and ground. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Lower rear of headliner and access sunroof control module. See SUNROOF CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect sunroof control module connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between sunroof control module connector terminal No. 1 (Tan wire) and ground. See Fig 2. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire between junction block and sunroof control module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect sunroof motor connector. Connect a jumper between ground and either sunroof motor terminal (motor side). Momentarily connect a fused jumper between battery voltage and opposite terminal of sunroof motor (motor side). Sunroof motor should operate. Reverse jumper wire ends at sunroof motor. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If sunroof moves in both directions, test is complete. If sunroof does not move in both directions, remove sunroof motor and bench test. See appropriate
POWER SUNROOF article. If current draw is excessive, replace sunroof motor. If current draw is okay, repair binding condition in sunroof assembly. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
