Removal & Installation

Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. For Grand Cherokee, damper is connected at tie rod. See Figure. For Cherokee and Wrangler, damper is connected at drag link. See Figure. Remove fasteners from damper at tie rod or drag link. If removing damper from drag link, use puller to separate damper ball stud from drag link. Remove damper nut and bolt from axle bracket. Remove damper assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure. If vehicle has damper-to-drag link connection, install NEW cotter pins.
