Second Brake: Reassembly

  1. Lubricate NEW "O" rings with petroleum jelly. Install "O" rings on second brake piston. Install second brake piston and piston sleeve in second brake drum.
  2. Install piston return springs and spring retainer on second brake piston. Using a press and spring compressor, compress piston return springs. Install snap ring.
  3. Remove spring compressor. Apply compressed air to feed hole on second brake drum which was used for removing second brake piston. See Figure . Ensure second brake piston operates smoothly.
  4. Coat thrust washer with petroleum jelly. Install thrust washer on second brake drum. Ensure notches on thrust washer engage with tabs on spring retainer.
