Overdrive Support: Reassembly

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Lubricate NEW seal rings and NEW "O" rings with ATF before installing. Squeeze ends of seal ring together before installing on overdrive support. This aids in proper seating of seal rings.
  2. Ensure tangs on rear race engage with slots on overdrive support. Thrust bearing must be installed with rollers facing upward (away from overdrive support).
  3. Ensure piston moves smoothly by placing overdrive support on direct clutch drum and applying compressed air to overdrive support feed hole. Verify thrust bearing and race size identification for proper location by measuring inside and outside diameter. See OVERDRIVE SUPPORT BEARING & RACE IDENTIFICATION  table.
