Installation (Cherokee)

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure fuel tank hose fittings are clean. Install small vent hose (if previously disconnected) and large fill hose on fuel tank. To prevent hoses from kinking, rotate each hose until index mark on hose aligns with index mark on fuel tank. Install hose clamps.
  2. Support fuel tank with transmission jack. Raise fuel tank into position while guiding fuel fill and vent hoses into and through access hole in body. Continue raising fuel tank until positioned against body.
    CAUTION: DO NOT overtighten fuel tank strap retaining nuts during installation.
  3. Tighten fuel tank strap retaining nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Install battery cable. Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
