DTC P1696: Pcm Failure EEPROM Write Denied: Testing

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, perform SRI MEMORY TEST. If scan tool displays WRITE REFUSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display WRITE REFUSED, no problem is indicated at this time. Test is complete.
  2. Using scan tool, repeat SRI MEMORY TEST. If scan tool displays WRITE REFUSED, replace PCM. PCM is located in engine compartment on left front fender, near radiator support. If scan tool does not display WRITE REFUSED, no problem is indicated at this time. Test is complete.
