NTC-7B: Checking Apps Calibration

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION table. For circuit identification and wiring diagram, see appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Ensure Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) and Engine Control Module (ECM) are correctly wired. Rewire mis-wired connector(s) as necessary. If connectors are correctly wired, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, select SENSORS. Monitor APPS voltage while moving throttle lever between upper and lower stops. If voltage varies between one volt with throttle closed and 3 volts with throttle open, test is complete. If voltage does not vary as specified, go to next step.
  3. Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Ensure throttle pedal moves freely between upper and lower stops. If throttle pedal moves freely, go to next step. If throttle pedal does not move freely, repair as necessary.
  4. At this time, APPS is assumed to be defective. Replace APPS.
