Memory Seat Test 5A - Repairing Seat Switches

NOTE: Perform MEMORY SEAT TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to SEATS - POWER article. After each repair, perform Perform TEST VER-3A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Using scan tool, read input/outputs for seat switches. Move seat switch in inoperative direction. If scan tool display changed from open to closed, go to next step. If scan tool display did not change from open to closed, go to MEMORY SEAT TEST 5B  .
  2. Disconnect inoperative power seat motor connector. Connect test light across motor connector terminals. Using scan tool, actuate motor. If test light illuminates, replace power seat adjuster assembly. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Stop motor actuation. Connect jumper wire across motor connector terminals. Disconnect memory seat module "A" connector (Orange). Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between suspect motor terminals on "A" connector. See appropriate wiring diagram under WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace memory seat module. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open seat motor driver circuit(s).
