Interior Lighting Test 5C - Courtesy Lights Stay On

NOTE: Perform INTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 5A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Using scan tool, observe status of door key cylinder switch while locking and unlocking each front door and liftgate with key. If status of door key cylinder switch changes to OPEN when locks are turned, repair sticking lock mechanism. If status of door key cylinder switch does not change to OPEN when locks are turned, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 14-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 10 (Violet/Yellow wire) on BCM Black 14-pin connector. If resistance is more than 300 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 300 ohms or less, go to next step.
  3. Reconnect BCM Black 14-pin connector. Using scan tool, continue to monitor status of door key cylinder switches. Remove left front door inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. See Fig 1 . If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, go to next step.
  4. Remove right front door inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, go to next step.
  5. Remove liftgate inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. See Fig 2 . If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, repair short between terminal No. 10 (Violet/Yellow wire) on BCM Black 14-pin connector and liftgate key cylinder switch.
