Interior Lighting Test 2A - Courtesy Lights Inoperative From Any Switch

NOTE: Perform INTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage on both sides of courtesy light fuse No. 16 (10-amp) in junction block. Junction block is located behind right kick panel. If voltage is more than 10 volts at both sides of fuse, go to step 4). If voltage is 10 volts or less at either side of fuse, go to next step.
  2. If voltage is 10 volts or less at B+ side (Red/Yellow wire) on fuse No. 16, repair open Red/Yellow wire between junction block and Power Distribution Center (PDC). If voltage is less than 10 volts at fused side (Pink wire) on fuse No. 16, go to next step.
  3. Remove fuse No. 16. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at B+ (Red/Yellow wire) side of fuse No. 16. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace fuse No. 16.
  4. Turn ignition off. Remove courtesy light relay in junction block. See Fig 1 . Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 86 (Pink wire) on courtesy light relay connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 87 (ground) on courtesy light relay connector. If resistance is more than 50 ohms, repair open in ground circuit. If resistance is 50 ohms is less, go to next step.
  6. Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (ground) on courtesy light relay connector. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, repair open in Yellow wire. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step.
  7. Ensure right front door is open. Using scan tool, check status of right front door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display RF DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go DOOR AJAR TEST 5A  . If scan tool displays RF DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  8. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 85 (Brown/Light Green wire) on courtesy light relay connector. If resistance is more than 80 ohms, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire. If resistance is 80 ohms or less, replace courtesy light relay.
