Chime Test 6A - Chime Inoperative With Key-In Ignition & Driver's Door Open
NOTE:
Perform CHIME TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Turn ignition off. Open left front door. If chime sounds, chime system is currently operating correctly. If chime does not sound, use scan tool to select CHIME MONITOR. Read left front door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display LF DOOR AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 3A . If scan tool displays LF DOOR AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Figure under CHIME TEST 4B. Connect jumper wire between key-in ignition switch connector terminals No. 2 (Light Blue wire) and No. 1 (Black wire). If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) on key-in ignition switch connector. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, repair open key-in ignition switch connector ground circuit (Black wire). If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Black 24-pin connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 14 (Light Blue wire). If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace BCM. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, repair open in Light Blue wire.
