Test 16A - No Termination

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect scan tool from DLC. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between BCM component socket "A", terminals No. 19 and 20. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 100-140 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Connect jumper wire between ground and BCM Black connector, terminal No. 19 (Violet/Brown wire). Using scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
  3. Move jumper wire to BCM Black connector, terminal No. 20 (White/Black wire). Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open White/Black wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between PCM component Gray connector, terminals C28 and C30. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is 100-140 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Connect jumper wire between ground and PCM Gray connector, terminal C30 (Violet/Brown wire). Using scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
  6. Move jumper wire to PCM Gray connector, terminal C28 (White/Black wire). Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open White/Black wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, replace scan tool cable or scan tool.
NOTE: For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM  . After each repair, perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE: Ignition off during bus test is most common cause for this trouble code.
