Memory Seat Test 4B - Repairing Memory Seat Circuits (2 Of 2)
NOTE:
Perform MEMORY SEAT TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-3A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Disconnect memory seat sensor connector. If position sensor displays 4.94-5.06, repair short between position sensor sense and supply circuits. See POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table for position sensor connector identification. If position sensor does not display 4.94-5.06, go to next step.
- Disconnect memory seat module connector "B". See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between position sensor sense circuit and chassis ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair position sensor sense circuit for short to chassis ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between position sensor sense and return circuits. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair position sensor sense circuit for short to sensor return circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select SENSORS. Connect a jumper wire between position sensor supply and sense circuits. If position sensor does not display 4.94-5.06, go to step 6). If position sensor displays 4.94-5.06, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between position sensor return and sense circuits. If position sensor does not display zero volt, go to step 6). If position sensor displays zero volt, replace power seat adjuster.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe position sensor supply circuit. If voltage is 4.94-5.06 volts, go to step 8). If voltage is not 4.94-5.06 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect memory seat module connector "B". Refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between memory seat module connector "B" terminal No. 1 (Brown/White wire) and position sensor connector Brown/White wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace memory seat module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/White wire.
- Disconnect memory seat module connector "B". Refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between memory seat module connector "B" sensor sense terminal and position sensor connector sense terminal. See POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table for position sensor connector identification. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in sensor sense circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between memory seat module connector "B" terminal No. 2 (Brown/Red wire) and position sensor connector Brown/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Red wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace memory seat module.
