Rear Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation

  1. If original WSS is being installed, go to step 3). If a NEW WSS is being installed, position WSS until cardboard spacer contacts tone ring.
  2. Use Loctite on WSS mounting bolt. Tighten WSS mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Spin rear axle by hand until cardboard spacer is peeled from sensor face. Air gap adjustment should be correct. Using a feeler gauge, check air gap adjustment. Air gap should be .036-.050" (.92-1.28 mm). If air gap is not correct, adjust as necessary. Go to step 4).
  3. Remove any remaining pieces of cardboard from sensor face. Install WSS. Using a feeler gauge, adjust air gap. Air gap should be .036-.050" (.92-1.28 mm). Use Loctite on WSS mounting bolt. Tighten WSS mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Go to next step.
  4. Remove all kinks and twists from WSS harness. Ensure WSS harness is installed in clips on brakelines. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
