Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. If original sensor is being reinstalled, carefully remove old spacer material from sensor pickup face. Remove all kinks and twists from WSS harness. Ensure WSS harness is installed in retaining clips on body, chassis and steering knuckle.
  2. Use Loctite on WSS mounting bolt. Tighten WSS bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Air gap is not adjustable. Check sensor air gap using a feeler gauge. Air gap should be .016-.051" (.40-1.30 mm). If air gap is not as specified, sensor is either loose or damaged. Replacement of sensor and/or tone wheel may be necessary.
