Test 8B - Bus Short To 5 Volts

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Stratus and 1995 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE:

WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.0L & 2.4L

After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector terminals No. 59 (Violet/Brown wire) and No. 61 (Violet/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown wire and Violet/White.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminals No. 60 (White/Black wire) and No. 61 (Violet/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black wire and Violet/White/ wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
NOTE: A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
