Cooling System Fans
For more information, refer to VISCOUS FAN DRIVE and/or AUXILIARY ELECTRIC COOLING FAN under OPERATION. All models are equipped with a mechanical temperature controlled fan. This thermal viscous fan drive is a torque-and-temperature-sensitive clutch unit. See Fig 1 . It automatically increases or decreases from speed to provide proper engine cooling. Cherokee models are equipped with a 4.0L engine may also have an auxiliary electrical cooling fan.
