Test 7A - Left Front Sensor Circuit Failure
NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
- Using scan tool, read and record all speed sensor DTC messages. If scan tool does not display LEFT FRONT SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE, perform TEST 8A . If scan tool displays LEFT FRONT SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE, inspect left front wheel speed sensor for damage. If sensor is damaged, repair or replace sensor as necessary. If sensor is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU 55-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage of left front speed sensor high signal circuit at ECU connector terminal No. 48 (Red wire). If voltage is not present, go to next step. If voltage is present, repair short to battery in left front speed sensor high signal circuit.
- Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of left front speed sensor high signal circuit at ECU connector terminal No. 48 (Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in left front speed sensor high signal circuit.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of left front speed sensor circuit between ECU connector terminals No. 48 (Red wire) and No. 30 (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is not 900-1300 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 900-1300 ohms, go to TEST 26A .
- Disconnect left front wheel speed sensor 2-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between left front wheel speed sensor connector terminals. If resistance is 900-1300 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 900-1300 ohms, replace wheel speed sensor.
- Connect a jumper wire between wheel speed sensor high signal circuit at left front wheel speed sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and ground. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Red wire at ECU connector terminal No. 48. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in wheel speed sensor high signal circuit (Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in wheel speed sensor low signal circuit (Red/Dark Blue wire).
