Overdrive/Override Switch (A/T)

Overdrive/Override switch is used on vehicles equipped with 5.2L engine and A/T with overdrive. PCM controls 3-4 overdrive up-shift and down-shift through overdrive solenoid, located on transmission. Overdrive/Override switch is a push-button switch located on instrument panel used to override PCM control of overdrive solenoid and keep transmission in a lower gear. When carrying a heavy load or towing a trailer, vehicle driver may desire to keep transmission in lower gear. An indicator light will come on when overdrive/override switch is open and PCM overdrive control is not allowed.
