Test SC-2A - Checking Cruise Control On/Off Switch
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Unplug cruise control switch connector Inspect connector and clean and repair as needed. Turn ignition on. Turn cruise control on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, probe Dark Blue/White wire on Cherokee. Probe White/Red wire on Grand Cherokee at fuse in ignition switch circuit. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/White (White/Red wire on Grand Cherokee) between cruise control switch connector and output side of fuse in ignition switch circuit.
- Connect a jumper wire between cruise control switch connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire) and output side of fuse in ignition switch circuit. Using DRB, read switch status. If DRB does not display "S/C SW ON", go to next step. If DRB displays "S/C SW ON", replace ON/OFF switch. Perform TEST VER-4A .
- Remove jumper wire. Reconnect cruise control switch. Turn ignition off. Unplug Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Perform TEST VER-4A . Perform TEST VER-4A. Turn ignition and cruise control on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, probe PCM connector terminal No. 49 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-4A . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Yellow/Red wire between PCM connector and cruise control switch connector. Perform TEST VER-4A .
