Test 23B - Diagnosing Intermittent Wiper Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind center console. Disconnect Blue BCM connector. Turn ignition on. Go to next step.
  2. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on intermittent wiper level sense circuit at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). With probe connected, slide wiper switch to each intermittent mode. If voltage is present in each intermittent mode, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If voltage is not present in each intermittent mode, turn ignition off.
  3. Disconnect multifunction switch. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of intermittent wiper level sense circuit (Dark Green/Yellow wire) between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 9 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1.
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
