Distributor R & I: Disassembly

  1. With distributor removed from engine, remove rotor. Position distributor in a vise. Remove distributor gear from shaft using a small punch and hammer to drive out retaining roll pin. See Fig 1 . Remove distributor shaft from housing.

  2. Remove stator retaining screw. See Fig 2 . Mark location of stator position for assembly reference. Remove stator harness by pushing grommet through housing. Remove stator assembly.
