Overhaul - New Process 229: Description

Model 229 transfer case is used with with Selec-Trac. The vacuum control system consists of 2 vacuum shift motors, a vacuum storage tank, lines and hoses, check valves and a 2WD/4WD mode selector. This system will allow for low range operation only after 4WD mode has been selected.

The design of the vacuum motors allow for sequential engagement of the vacuum controlled components. When shifting into 4WD, the axle is shifted first. When shifting into 2WD, the transfer case is shifted first.
