Pressure Test Procedure
- Connect pressure test gauge to test port on passenger side of transmission. Be sure test gauge capacity is a minimum of 300 psi (2100 kPa).
- Bring transmission fluid to normal operating temperature. Apply parking brake and block wheels.
- Check and adjust engine curb idle speed. Apply service brake.
- Shift transmission into "D" range and note line pressure with engine at curb idle speed. Pressure should be 53-61 psi (363-422 kPa).
- Press accelerator to wide open throttle position and note line pressure. Pressure should be 161-196 psi (1108-1353 kPa).
- Shift transmission into Reverse and note line pressure with engine at curb idle speed. Pressure should be 73-87 psi (500-598 kPa).
- Press accelerator to wide open throttle position and note line pressure in Reverse. Pressure should be 223-273 psi (1540-1883 kPa).
- If line pressure is not within specifications, adjust line pressure cable and repeat pressure test.
CAUTION:
DO NOT maintain wide open throttle for more than 3-4 seconds at a time.
