Testing System & Clearing Trouble Codes
If system fault is diagnosed, attach DRB-II Tester (C-4805) to diagnostic connector, located on passenger side of engine compartment. Retrieve trouble code using DRB-II tester. Since system can only store one trouble code, first trouble code set will be the trouble code retrieved. Fault must be repaired before any other code can be obtained. Use any initial trouble code as a diagnosis guide. Clear codes and retest system before diagnosing.
Clear trouble codes by removing 2-amp "ABS-BAT" fuse (No. 10 on 1989-90; No. 21/22 on 1991), located on fuse panel, for 5 seconds. Install fuse and road test vehicle. Check if trouble codes have been reset. If so, go to appropriate trouble code chart. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING CHARTS. Refer to the following menu:
- For 1989 Models, see: 1989 TROUBLE CODE CHARTS .
- For 1990 Models, see: 1990 TROUBLE CODE CHARTS .
- For 1991 Models, see: 1991 TROUBLE CODE CHARTS .
DRB-II has the capability to test function of ABS system and the state of its components. Functional test monitors circuits to help isolate faults not indicated by the system's self-diagnosis, along with those which are indicated. State display of components allows ABS system to be broken down to state of each component and state of stored trouble codes.
